The house was rebuilt about 50 years by a Paris industrialist. It has thick stone walls, and is very light, as on both ground floor level, and in the bedrooms, there are glazed double French doors. A feature is the very large, and beautifully proportioned, main reception room, which has a beamed ceiling and a huge fireplace (for guests seeking a winter break!).
There is a fully-equiped kitchen, with a large refrigerator, dishwasher, cooker, microwave, and all the other gadgets you would normally expect, including a breadmaker (see inventory for detail). Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms, all ensuite (two with bathrooms, two with shower rooms), and a laundry, for those with the sudden urge to to some ironing! Two of the bedrooms are double-aspected, and all four have great views.
There are two terrace areas in front of the house, which is south-facing. One has cast-iron garden furniture, and is a great spot for an early evening drink. The other, at a slightly raised level, is an outside dining area, and is accessed easily from the kitchen.
At the rear of the house, and sheltered from the sun by a large Ash tree, is a terrace with another outside dining area, and barbecue. This is a great spot to eat at lunchtime, as there is shelter from the sun. It's also just a few paces from the pool! Both terraces have outside lighting systems, which add to the ambiance in the evenings.
The house has satellite television (including several English-speaking channels, such as BBC World, CNN, and CNBC), and internet by satellite, which comes with wifi, which is great for "working" by the pool!
Entertainment equipment also includes a dvd and cd players, including outside speakers at the rear of the house. And there is a reasonable library of novels and other books.Oh yes, and there's also a table tennis table!
